It’s been a busy year at your Parish Council from submission to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty through keeping the footpaths clear, to preparing the Neighbourhood Plan and maintaining the Recreation Ground we have both sought to preserve the character of our village, while also ‘moving with the times’.
The highlight of the year, which will bring long term benefits, was implementation of the Neighbourhood Plan. The Borough Council must now take your wishes into account when making future planning decisions affecting West Clandon.
We made sure the village amenities such as the footpaths, the recreation ground (where we also installed a new toddlers play area) and the village hall (where we helped install a new heating system) were well maintained.
The A247 continues to be an issue for us all, as we regularly inform Surrey County Council. In particular the dangerous exit from the Station Road on to the A247 and the dangerous junction of the A247 with the existing A3 slip road, which has been the scene of numerous accidents.
Looking to the future as the development at Garlick’s Arch looms and proposals for slip roads from the A247 to the A3 (which would result in a large increase in traffic through the village) gather pace, we will keep you informed and continue to represent your views to the Borough and County Councils.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions about our Parish, or if you would like to get involved with the Parish Council.
