Guildford Borough Council adopted the West Clandon Neighbourhood Plan, at a Full Council meeting on 5 April.

The West Clandon Neighbourhood Plan now forms part of the Development Plan for the borough. It will help guide their decisions on planning applications in West Clandon, along with the Local Plan and other documents.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Joss Bigmore, said: “Last summer an independent examination recommended some small changes to the West Clandon Neighbourhood Plan. We agreed to these changes and held a referendum on the updated plan.

“We welcome the adoption of the Plan, which now carries full weight in determining planning applications in the West Clandon Neighbourhood Area. This is one of the ways local people can have a say in future development in their area.”

Clandon And Horsley Ward Councillor, Christopher Barrass said: “The West Clandon Neighbourhood Plan will help to preserve the character of our ancient village.

“In particular, thanks are owed to West Clandon Parish Council and the team of residents, headed by John Stone, which worked tirelessly to put this together and getting it through all the hoops to approval.
